Choose airport transport using your final destination and the whole journey. Airport Express can suit a rail-connected itinerary; a suitable public bus may reduce transfers; a taxi may suit a direct trip with luggage. Check the current route, fare and operating information before travelling.
Compare door-to-door, not station-to-station
MTR describes the Airport Express journey between the airport and the city as taking as little as 24 minutes. That figure is not the time from aircraft arrival to your hotel: immigration, baggage, waiting and the onward journey are separate.
Write down your hotel’s exact address and nearest useful transport stop. A fast main journey can still involve a less convenient final transfer.
Three options to compare
| Option | Consider it when | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Airport Express | Your onward journey works well from its stations. | The complete connection to your destination. |
| Public bus | A current route serves a convenient stop. | Route, direction, stop, luggage arrangements and service time. |
| Taxi | You value a direct journey or are travelling with luggage. | The appropriate taxi service and current fare information. |
These are planning considerations, not live quotations. The airport’s transport pages and the transport operators are the sources for current services.
Plan for the time you actually arrive
Check operating hours against a realistic arrival window, including the time needed after landing. For a late arrival, save an alternative before the flight rather than relying on one connection.
If mobility, a child seat, oversized luggage or other specific requirements affect the trip, confirm the suitable arrangements with the operator in advance.
Keep a small arrival note
- Your destination in English and Chinese, if available.
- The chosen service and one alternative.
- The official route or service page.
- Any hotel check-in instructions you need.
Keep the details available without depending on a new mobile-data connection immediately after landing.
